I asked him, isn’t it true that rapes are taking place since 5000 Years?
He replied, what ever may be past, we have to do something in present. This prompted me to write this article.
WHAT IS REPTILE BRAIN?
This cane checked on Google or other search sites. What I am writing here is from memory and therefore everything may not be acurate.
As I understand, Three Types of brain are discovered by Scientists.
1) Main Brain 2) Thinking Brain, which helps us to decide what to do and what not to do.
3) Third brain discovered is REPTILE BRAIN. Its shape is like a small reptile. Therefore, it may have been given name of REPTILE BRAIN.
WHERE IT IS SITUATED?
It connects our neck with with our head. It looks like small reptile. Other two brains are situated above it in head.
WHAT DOES REPTILE BRAIN DO?
It can work independently. We cannot control it. It is this brain which controls us.
Whenever a moving object passes before our eyes, it asks, THREE Questions:
1) Can I eat this?
2) Will it eat me?
3) Can I mate with this?
If all the three answers are negative, it ignores that moving object.
This brain is responsible for our habitual and and automatic activity, like breathing, digesting food and so many others.
Since we have no control on this brain, we find it difficult to form new habits and carry out new year’s resolution.
SO? WHAT IS THE ARGUMENT HERE?
1. It is our reptile brain, over which we have no control, decides to commit rape. Once it decides, it releases so much pressure that, though a person may be knowing that what he is doing is heinous crime, he cannot restrain himself, because the Reptile Brain is more powerful than other two brains.
2. Unless I am wrong, Sigmund Freud, found that our mind becomes “Sensually activated only when a person sees a real and near possibility of having Sex.” It does not become immediately activated merely by seeing photos in supplementary addition of Times of India.
3) Reptile Brain is also deciding our Fight or Flight response. If it feels that moving object can be eaten up or can have easily sex with, it attacks the victim. If it feels, that the moving object is likely to eat it up or it cannot have sex with it, the reptile brain, forces us to retreat or to run away.
4) Sensuality is also connected with climate. I read somewhere that India is the second dangerous place for girl child. India’s sensuality also differs in South, in Bombay and In North. At some place, it is considered a Man’s pride to have committed three or more rapes.
LET US TALK ABOUT LAW
How law can solve this issue?. The function of court is to punish in accordance with law.
Today our technology permits that you can download porn on mobile phone and you can see porn in your mobile anywhere. Mobiles will be found in assembly, in press gallery and even in courts.
Will there be less rapes if Law is passed to hang rapist or to remove his offending parts?
Will this prevent people from watching porn on mobiles?
Will they able to control their REPTILE BRAIN if this brain sees a quick opportunity to mate? Reptile brain does everything without thinking. There are no thinking parts in it. Whether Law hangs the rapist or doesn’t hang, is not for it to worry, because its thinking ability is restricted only to three questions quoted in beginning.
SO WHAT IS THE CONCLUSION?
1) “My reptile brain forced me to commit rape” is not an acceptable excuse.
2) “There is a river of porn flowing from Internet and it excites people” is also a not acceptable excuse.
Those who can mend law has to mend laws so as to ensure that number of forced rapes are reduced.
Regarding Reptile Brain, the problem becomes very complex when we realize that the girls too have Reptile brain in their brain
All we can do is to think together on the issue till some practical and implementable solutions are found.

The Triune brain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triune_brain) theory is no longer highly accepted in scientific circles. It proposed the Reptilian Complex as the most primitive and core part of the brain. Yet the Neocortex enables us to override and exercise restraint on instinctive reactions. Violence against a person forcing them in any manner to act against their will is in itself immoral and criminal under most legal codes. Sexual violence is one that results in massive trauma often irreversible. It must be prevented and all citizens must be adequately protected both by law and self-restraint.
I agree with Sunil Beta Baskar – Most sexual crimes are not 'crimes of impulse; but well planned acts, and the victim in more than 70% of the crimes is someone known to the victim. The biggest deterrent seems to be fear of punishment, hence rapists choose those victims who are unlikely to report, small children, dalit girls or a girl who might be too ashamed to report the crime etc.
I may say that Law is also not accepting such "Something wrong" in head. We also have no idea about many "Aggressive and possesive" people go untreated. If what I understand is right, in some countries there is system of sentencing such persanalities to report to psychiatrist for some weeks. Here, there is no such system.
Medical Science or any other factors are not responsible for the crime of rape.. it is enmity sometimes .. sometimes woman is very negligibly responsible for whole act .. & some faces because of Past karmas…
A person committing such an atrocity on the modesty of a woman is not a normal human in any case. Punishing such a person with some years in the jail would not make any difference to such an abnormal person. He is likely to commit such things again,perhaps with much more vengeance and it that case he becomes a danger to the society as a whole. I think, the deterrance lies in making such persons physically incapacitated, which is more humane and yet can be effectively implemented. It is definitely better than the death penalty, that some of our law makers are arguing for. But to add such new punishments perhaps we may have to amend the penal code on which our jurisprudence is based ! But it is not an impossible thing if our law makers are serious in getting laws made for better administration of law and order !
