Today (05-03-12) New Delhi was hit with an earthquake of 5.2 magnitude, just 48 Km.away.
This reminded me of Earthquake which hit Supreme Court of India last year.
Here are the details.

The Earthquake camearound 10.35 AM
It shook the wholejudiciary
The judges and thelawyers across the country
Came out to see whathad happened!
The epic center ofEarthquake was in Supreme Court of India
The Earthquakemeasured magnitude of 6.8
For whole day, all TV Channels flashed minute to minute
Visuals of Supreme Court.
And next day all newspapers devoted three full pages
to show magnitude of earth quake.
It was a case was betweentwo richest people of country
The Judge withdrewhimself from the case
On the ground thatone of the party
Appeared to have remotely
Tried to influencehis conscience
By sending a brief toa law firm
Where his daughter worked!
This was just unacceptable to Justice R.V.Raveendran.
It had been sincemany years,
That a judge hadboost up
morale of Judges,Lawyers and Litigants
across the country,
in one mega stroke!
The message sankright in the hearts of
The Rich and The Mighty,
That they should noteven remotely
Try to influenceconscience of
Judges of SupremeCourt.

Younger Lama askedElder Lama,
“Tell me, what haschanged
Between elevation of Justice Raveendran
As a judge of SupremeCourt
And his retirement asa
Judge of SupremeCourt?”
“Three things havechanged,”
replied Elder Lama,
“Firstly, Laws havechanged
In areas of MACTcases, Arbitration Cases,
And in large numberof areas,
Where earlier ambiguity prevailed.
“Secondly, SupremeCourt itself has changed!
The changes madewithin Supreme Court
are subtle and are not visibleto normal eyes!
“Thirdly, JusticeRaveendran himself has changed.
The process ofpresiding as a Supreme Court Judge,
Has changed hispersonality,
His thinking,
And his ways ofjudging cases”
Elder Lama replied
“Please tell me howhas he changed?”
Asked Younger Lama
“It will require oneto write a big volume
To describe thechanges he made!!
And the changes whichmade him change.!!!”
Elder Lama replied briefly.
Perhaps, this time,
he was feelingshortage of words
To describe the megawork of the great Judge.
