This is what I wrote on retirement of former Chief Justice of India Mr.Justice S.P.Bharucha on 16 April 2002
He came as a judge
And left as a giant
When he came
The court was beatenlow
When he left
The court was walkingtall
He defined norms
Of judicial courage
Without crushing
Toes of executive andlegislator
And with everyjudgement
He delivered
He freed nation
From paralysis ofindecision
He made it clear toall
That judiciary is
A pillar strongerthan all
‘We are not holy cows
We are men and women
Of standards veryhigh
And shoulders verybroad
To lift burdens of abillion’
